IS MYLO DROWNING DETECTION DEVICE RIGHT FOR MY POOL?

MYLO is designed to work in a variety of pools; however, its effectiveness is affected by the following factors which you must consider before purchasing:

MYLO was designed to work most efficiently in all standard residential backyard pools.
But obviously, more units can be used to cover larger or non-standard-shaped pools.

POOL SHAPE

Swimming pool MYLO requires a direct line-of-sight for the entire pool. It has a view angle of 110° so that it completely covers all rectangular-shaped pools. In cases of non-rectangular pools, you can always use a second unit, but even a single MYLO can still function, but with some blind spots as illustrated in the diagram below:

POOL SIZE

MYLO uses a single pair of integrated above-water and underwater cameras, allowing for simple plug-and-play installation.

However, this design limits the distance it can effectively cover.

MYLO performs best in pools that are up to 32 feet (10 meters) in length.

While the size of the pool presents a limitation, water clarity poses an even greater challenge (refer to the WATER CLARITY section for more information).

For larger pools, multiple MYLO units can be used to ensure better coverage.

POOL DEPTH

MYLO is designed to detect drowning at depths of at least 2 feet (60 cm). In shallower areas of the pool, it is intended to detect approach or entry into the water.

WATER CLARITY

Water clarity is crucial for MYLO operation. If it looks cloudy from the outside, then it is surely too cloudy for MYLO to operate at a satisfactory level. Furthermore, while the pool water may look clear from the outside, it may still be cloudy. The real test would be to get inside the water and using goggles, look across the pool from one end to the other. If you cannot see the other end, then MYLO may not see it either.

A well-maintained pool (with pumps and filters operating daily) should have clear water. However, typically, a pool that is maintained just with chlorine tablets will not have the water clarity level needed.

In a well-maintained pool with very clear water, MYLO may perform well even in a 50-foot (15-meter) long pool, while in a pool that is not well-maintained, MYLO may not function well even in pools smaller than 26-foot (8-meter).

LIGHTING

MYLO uses video cameras to analyze pool activity. Thus, just like human vision, when there is not enough light, either from an external source (the sun), outside lights, gardens lights, or from an internal source (e.g. pool lights), without good lightning or with too much shading vision might be degraded and in total darkness MYLO will not be able to monitor the Pool activity and Detect drowning.

POOL COVERS

Pool covers do not interfere with the operation of MYLO.

However, since MYLO is mounted at the edge of the pool, integrated pool covers may not close completely unless a special clearance is made in the pool cover to accommodate the MYLO tube.

Here are some alternative options to consider:

1. Configure the cover so it does not close completely, instead stopping about 4 inches from the pool’s edge.

2. Make adjustments to the deck to cover the gap, leaving space only for the MYLO tube in the water.

3. Remove the MYLO each time you close the cover.

4. Install Mylo on a heavy tile to facilitate easier removal of the entire unit with the tile from the pool during cover closure.

ABOVE/UNDER-GROUND POOLS

MYLO can be used for both above-ground and in-ground pools.

The product is shipped with a base for mounting its pool unit to the edge of an in-ground pool. At this point for above-ground devices, you will need to place a high chair or any other means at the height of the pool to attach the base to. See for instance:

HOW MYLO CHARGE/GET ELECTRICITY?

The system does not work without the power supply connected. Keep it plugged in at all times.

MYLO is safe for Pool usage as it uses a low voltage electricity power (24V)

CAN WE USE THE ROBOT WITH MYLO IN THE POOL?

Generally Yes.  MYLO can operate with most robots. Nevertheless, MYLO recognizes most robots without alerting them as humans.

However, some pool cleaning systems/robots are suction- or pressure-based.

Before using any suction or pressure-based cleaning systems, ensure that you:

  1. Unplug MYLO: Disconnect MYLO from its power source.
  2. Remove MYLO from the Pool: Take MYLO out of the water to avoid any potential damage or interference with the cleaning equipment.

Following these steps will help maintain the functionality and longevity of MYLO and ensure the efficient operation of your pool cleaning system.
